The new content ArenaNet has planned for Guild Wars 2 sounds like something that would typically be delivered in the form of a $40 paid expansion. That's even more impressive when you consider GW2 doesn't require a monthly sub. Players will begin to see the first of this free new content when the Flame and Frost: Prelude update launches next week.
In the Flame and Frost narrative, the sky is falling -- and this is no Chicken Little hysteria. A synopsis from ArenaNet: Charr and norn refugees crawl from the wreckage of their homes in the Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau, struggling to find shelter in the south. The call goes out for volunteers to assist the victims in this time of need, when earth and sky seem to have become the enemy.
