Today we are going to have an exclusive interview with Andrea Oh,  Inixsoft Oversea department manager for casual MMORPG Vanilla Gate.

MMOsite: I am glad that we have this opportunity to do an interview with you. Would you first introduce yourself and your team to our readers?

Andrea: VanillaGate is being developed by 18 developers. I take charge of designing the game heading our team with other new or experienced members of painters, server, client programmers, and graphic designer to create an imaginary world.
We are doing our best having a common goal to make a joyful playground. Please keep watching us.

MMOsite: I noticed that although VanillaGate had been in open beta test for about 4 or 5 months, there's not much publicity about this title. Why? Can you update us on what you have been working on VanillaGate recently?

Andrea: We had lots of new systems being developed secretly. As a part of marketing method, they were not exposed.
We also had to solve certain kind of server problems since this is global project that users from all over the world participate to the game.
Since the first OBT, many new systems such as summoning, power attack, quest, pet, crazy, and vanilla king mode have been updated. If you haven't seen our game for a while, the new changes will surprise you.

MMOsite: Let's turn to the game itself. Can you do a brief introduction about VanillaGate? How would you describe the game in your own words?

Andrea: VanillaGate can be expressed as "Infinite Blows." In other words, it's the game that lets users strike their keyboards while they are playing.
Even though a game is well made, it is useless if users cannot enjoy. That is why we want to show the best action with easy control to everyone, and we are working on it.

 

Power attack

MMOsite: What type of gamers are you targeting? What features in VanillaGate can capture the hearts of the gamers?

Andrea: Dynamic action, generally brilliant, soft graphics, and cute characters will appeal to the gamers who like casual games. We also keep focusing on making the game easy to play, and for that, we eliminated any unnecessary parts.
For example, we care about prudent part such as the function that in the game room, users can solve a quiz while they are waiting for other users not to get bored.
One of the features of VanillaGate is battle, but since it also has the concept of growth, and there are lots of new systems such as mercenary, stage effects, and socket, players will be fascinated by VanillaGate once they play.

MMOsite: VanillaGate allows a maximum of 8 players to battle it out simultaneously. What kind of battle system is like in Vanilla Gate?

Andrea: VanillaGate widely has two different modes, competition and quest mode.
Competition mode is something that users can battle against other players, and it consists of 6 different modes which are "Time Attack", "Death Match", "Sudden Death", "Flag", "BombingRun", and "Crazy" modes. They are either killing more competitors in a certain time, or moving a certain symbol to the competitor's base camp.
Quest mode is something that users can battle against NPCs. It lets users feel the way to play a single game and have different fun.
Quest mode also lets users understand the story of VanillaGate completing given missions either alone or with other players.
Since the game is played for a short time, and the victory depends on momentary choices, players will have different pleasures for each mode.

MMOsite: The Enchanting System sounds nice, what would you like to say about it?

Enchant

Andrea: The enchanting system of VanillaGate is not enchanting a weapon, but poket.
As one feature of a casual game, all the items are lovely and splendid. If players have to enchant an item every time they obtain it, it is going to be too much pressure. However, in VanillaGate, players only enchant a poket, and they can just put it on any weapons. Not only the ability of the weapon with the pocket will be increased, but also its size gets bigger offering visual merit to the item.
As I mentioned, VanillaGate is focused on the pleasure of playing, so we exclude any unnecessary parts, and maximize the merit of enchant system.

 

MMOsite: How do Devil Summoners and Mercenary System work in VanillaGate?

Andrea: There are very powerful mercenaries in Vanilla World. These mercenaries have much self-pride, so they never offer their full powers until they admit the user's ability. Until the user's character is admitted, the mercenaries appear and fight themselves, and this is Devil Summoners system.
Mercenary system is that if a character is admitted, the mercenaries offer their full powers, and at this moment, the character transforms to the mercenary itself.
In other words, Devil Summoners system is something users summon a mercenary during a battle, and Mercenary system is transforming to the mercenary itself.
These systems are for more exciting action playing through various ways of battle.

 

MMOsite: How long will the OBT last? What new content can we expect in the foreseeable future?

Andrea: I believe the most urgent thing is offering the satisfaction to our users.
You can expect our new contents such as mercenary, stage effect, socket, and cosmetic systems. You can also expect our new play modes like intermediate/advanced quests and tower mode which is a small siege.

MMOsite: Can everyone take part in the OBT or even the commercial service no matter where they are located? Will they be in a same server?

Andrea: Our server is very stable now, and everyone can enjoy the game no matter where they are located. I do enjoy the game with other users from various counties having a community. Even though we just introduced our messenger system, I have made lots of friends from all over the world. You can feel the slogan "we are the world" from server.

 

MMOsite: How many servers do you have now? Do you have any plan to add more servers?  How often can players expect a massive update?

 

Quest

Andrea: Of course we have to add more servers as more players enjoy our game.
We are trying to add new contents every week, and we are keeping it that way since the OBT.
We let users feel the new VanillaGate every day, and it means there are infinite funs in VanillaGate.


MMOsite: To conclude, do you have anything more we didn't involve in this interview about VanillaGate to share with our readers? Or just say some simple words to our readers!

Andrea: I believe game exists to be enjoyable.
Our first priority is "making the most enjoyable game". I'll appreciate if you keep watching the way VanillaGate moves on. We will do our best to let our users think "it is very fun" while they are playing VanillaGate.
